Hummy Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Hummy (“Hummy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Hummy mobile application.

For privacy questions or requests, contact info@kampbu.com.

1. Information You Store in Hummy

Hummy stores information on your device to provide its kitchen assistant features, including:

  • Ingredients and estimated quantities in your kitchen.
  • Cooking appliances and cooking preferences.
  • Household size and available cooking time.
  • Dietary preferences you choose to enter.
  • Saved meals, personal recipes, favorites, meal plans, and cooking history.

In the current version, these records are stored locally in the app rather than synchronized to a Hummy user account. You do not need to create an account to use Hummy.

Device backups may contain locally stored app data, depending on your operating system and backup settings.

2. Photos and AI Ingredient Recognition

When you use photo scanning, Hummy processes the photo you take or select to identify visible ingredients.

The photo is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our scanning service hosted on Cloudflare. That service forwards the photo to Google Cloud Vertex AI, using Gemini models, to identify ingredients and return results to the app.

This means photo recognition takes place outside your device. The image itself, including anything visible in it, is processed by these service providers.

The scanning request includes the image and its file type. Hummy does not intentionally attach an account identifier, email address, or advertising identifier to that request.

Our scanning service does not maintain a photo library or application database of uploaded images. However, service providers may retain request content or technical records under their applicable service terms, security procedures, abuse-monitoring requirements, and account settings. We do not promise immediate deletion or zero retention across all service providers.

Avoid submitting photos containing faces, personal documents, addresses, or other information that is unnecessary for ingredient recognition.

You can use manual ingredient entry instead of photo scanning.

3. Technical Information

When your device connects to the scanning service, hosting and AI providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, response status, and error information to deliver, secure, and maintain their services.

The current version of Hummy does not include a third-party advertising SDK or send in-app behavioral analytics events to an external analytics service.

4. Information You Send Us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information or attachments you include.

We use this information to respond to your inquiry, provide support, and handle privacy requests. Please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.

5. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Identify ingredients in photos you submit.
  • Maintain your kitchen inventory on your device.
  • Suggest recipes based on your ingredients, appliances, and preferences.
  • Support saved recipes, household favorites, and meal planning.
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Maintain service reliability, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or use your kitchen photos for targeted advertising.

6. Service Providers and Other Disclosures

We use Cloudflare to host the scanning service and Google Cloud Vertex AI to process images for ingredient recognition. These providers process information as necessary to provide their services, subject to applicable agreements and policies.

Information you send to our support email is also processed through the email services used to receive and respond to your message.

We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, or protect our legal rights.

For additional information about our infrastructure providers, see:

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Local app information: Your kitchen inventory, preferences, recipes, and plans remain on your device until you remove them using available app controls or delete the app. Offloading the app may preserve its data. Copies in device backups are controlled through your backup settings.

Scanned photos: Our scanning service processes uploaded images to return ingredient results and does not maintain a persistent photo collection. Any retention by infrastructure or AI providers is governed by their applicable service terms and configurations, including security and abuse-monitoring requirements.

Support messages: We retain correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, resolve related issues, and meet applicable legal obligations.

You may contact info@kampbu.com to request deletion of personal information we hold. We may need additional information to locate relevant records and verify your request. We cannot directly access or delete records stored only on your device.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Use manual ingredient entry instead of uploading a photo.
  • Manage camera and photo access through your device settings.
  • Edit or remove information using the controls available in the app.
  • Delete the app and manage any associated device backups.
  • Contact us with privacy questions or deletion requests.

Revoking camera or photo access prevents future access through those permissions; it does not automatically delete information already processed.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise applicable rights, email info@kampbu.com.

9. International Processing

Cloudflare, Google Cloud, and email service providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. The locations involved depend on the service and its configuration. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those in your country.

10. Security

Hummy uses HTTPS for photo-scanning requests and relies on device protections for locally stored app information.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Protecting access to your device and backups also helps protect your Hummy information.

11. Children's Privacy

Hummy is not specifically directed to children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without any consent required by applicable law, contact info@kampbu.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Hummy or its data practices. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice or request consent where required by applicable law.
