This Privacy Policy explains how Cadency (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application.
Cadency is a speech coaching app that helps users analyze speaking cadence, fluency, rhythm, pauses, filler words, and vocal delivery. The app is designed to work without creating an account.
1. Information We Collect
Cadency does not require users to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or payment information directly through the app.
We may collect or process the following types of information:
a. Audio Recordings
When you record your speech in Cadency, the app processes your audio recording to provide speech analysis features such as cadence score, speaking rhythm, pause quality, speaking pace, filler word detection, and transcript-based feedback.
Audio recordings may be sent to our backend server and to a speech-to-text service provider for transcription and analysis. Audio recordings are used only to provide the core functionality of the app.
We do not use your audio recordings for advertising purposes.
b. Transcripts and Speech Analysis Results
Cadency may generate transcripts and analysis results from your speech recordings. These may include:
- Transcript text
- Speaking duration
- Speaking pace
- Filler word count
- Pause and rhythm analysis
- Cadency score
- Coaching suggestions
In the current version, analysis history is stored locally on your device. We do not require a user account to use the app.
c. Device Identifier
We may use a device-level identifier or analytics identifier to understand how the app is used across sessions. This identifier is used for analytics and product improvement purposes.
d. App Usage and Product Interaction Data
We may collect limited information about how users interact with the app, such as:
- App launches
- Onboarding completion
- Recording screen views
- Recording start and stop actions
- Analysis result views
- Rhythm detail views
- Practice screen interactions
- Feature usage
- Error events
This information helps us understand app performance, improve the user experience, and develop better features.
e. Technical and Device Information
We may collect limited technical information such as:
- Device model
- Operating system version
- App version
- Language settings
- General diagnostic information
This information helps us maintain compatibility, fix issues, and improve app stability.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide speech recording and analysis features
- Generate cadence, rhythm, pace, pause, and filler word insights
- Display speech analysis results in the app
- Save analysis history locally on your device
- Improve app design, performance, and reliability
- Understand which features are used
- Detect and fix technical issues
- Prevent abuse and maintain app security
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-Party Services
Cadency may use third-party service providers to operate and improve the app.
a. Mixpanel
We use Mixpanel for product analytics. Mixpanel helps us understand how users interact with the app, such as which screens and features are used. Mixpanel may process device identifiers, app interaction events, device information, and related analytics data.
We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other direct contact information to Mixpanel.
b. OpenAI
We may use OpenAI services to transcribe audio recordings and support speech analysis features. Audio recordings or related speech data may be sent to OpenAI through our backend server for transcription.
OpenAI API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default unless the data owner explicitly opts in to such use.
c. Backend Processing
Audio files may be temporarily processed on our backend server to enable transcription and analysis. We do not intend to permanently store audio recordings on our backend in the current version. Temporary files are deleted after processing where technically possible.
4. Local Storage
Cadency may store analysis history locally on your device. This may include previous scores, transcripts, rhythm metrics, filler word counts, and related speech analysis results.
If you delete the app, locally stored analysis history may also be deleted from your device.
5. No Account Required
Cadency does not require login or account creation. Because there is no account system, we do not collect account credentials, usernames, or passwords.
6. Advertising and Tracking
Cadency does not currently show third-party ads.
We do not use your data to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies for advertising or advertising measurement purposes.
7. Data Sharing
We may share limited information with service providers only as needed to operate the app, provide speech analysis, process audio transcription, perform analytics, improve reliability, or comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell user data to advertisers or data brokers.
8. Data Retention
Audio recordings processed through our backend are intended to be temporary and used only for speech analysis and transcription.
Analysis history is stored locally on your device unless you delete it or uninstall the app.
Analytics data may be retained by our analytics provider according to their own retention practices.
9. Children's Privacy
Cadency is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Your Choices
You can:
- Choose not to record audio
- Delete local app data by deleting the app from your device
- Disable microphone access from your device settings
- Contact us about privacy-related questions
If microphone access is disabled, Cadency's speech recording and analysis features may not work.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the app. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on the service providers used to operate the app.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
